A round porcelain plate with a slight rise to the rim. The base glaze has a slight blue tint to it and the cobalt is a nice deep black blue. The design is of shrimp in water weeds with a double happiness wedding character in the central well.
 
The foot is rounded and unglazed. The base is glazed.  There is a small label on the base that reads 2012.91.29. The dish belonged to the Portland Art Museum in Portland Oregon and was deaccessioned and this is its inventory number. There is also a cobalt character on the base.
 
MEASUREMENTS
7” diameter x 1 ¼” tall. Weighs 10.9 oz (310 g)
 
CONDITION  
There are two small rim chips. There are no cracks or breaks and the plate rings like a bell. There are kiln flaws such as black spots, pimples, and reserves. There is considerable wear to the central well.
  
A very old plate with an expert fluid painting of shrimp in weeds that will add to a blue and white display and collection. You can even use it to serve shrimp.
