A very large punch bowl decorated with lotus panels and precious objects. The glaze colors and painting style remind me of Kangxi Famille Verte. The designs are intricate and all encompassing. There are bands of ruyi heads, diaper patterns, and line bands. The body glaze is a soft off-white with blue and celadon tinges. It feels very soft and thick. The iron red glaze in the decoration is soft and smooth feeling and not dry.

The foot is raised and rounded. It is unglazed and shows an oatmeal color with burnt iron along the edges. The base is glazed with no undermarks.

MEASUREMENTS

11” (28.0 cm) diameter x 4 ½” (11.4 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lbs 8.9 oz (1625 g)

CONDITION

There is a rim crack that has forked and continues nearly until the well. There are two mouth rim chips. There is wear to the enamels in the central well. The enamels on the rest of the body are still bright with little wear. There are kiln flaws, such as pin hole reserves, black spots, and two larger black spots on the central wear.

A large noticeable and impressive bowl to decorate your home or add to a polychrome collection.
