Vintage Chinese Embroidered Clutch Purse with Matching Coin Purse

The outer purse is hand embroidered with flowers, potted plants, scrolls, peonies, prunus flowers and Buddhist swastika symbols. The embroidery is tight with colorful silk and gold couched threads. Blue silk damask edges the exterior and extends to the interior. The inside of the purse has a zippered pouch with an embroidered panel, and a 3.5” x 5” makeup mirror on the flap. The tab of the zipper has magenta silk tassel attached. The inside pocket is closed by the zipper on the diagonal allowing a second pocket to remain open. A floral button clasp is carved and then dyed red.

 

The coin purse has floral and gold embroidery, with a blue satin woven interior.

The purse has light soiling. Most of the threads are tight, except for some of the gold threads The mirror shows foxing from age.
