Product variants

An aged Chinese brass box with a stepped lid that is decorated with enameled rondels.

The sides and lid of the handmade box are covered in small rondels that are decorated in multi-colored with assorted designs of flowers. Inside the lid you can see solder marks where the various panels were assembled into a domed lid. Inside, there is a wood liner that has been stained red.

The base is flat with CHINA incised on it.

MEASUREMENTS

4 ¼” (10.8 cm) long x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) deep x 3” (7.6 cm) tall. Weighs 14.9 oz (430 g)

CONDITION

The metal box itself has no dents. The brass has developed a patina, with a few lighter discoloration marks on one section of the lid, and two dark spots along the corner of the base. With the exception of one enamel cartouche on the box and three on the lid, most of the enamels are intact.

There are no breaks, cracks, dents, repairs or chips. It has a nicely aged patina from oxidization and use.
