Mid-Century Renoir Matisse Copper Enamel Maple Leaf Pin Brooch

A fun, colorful and nostalgic pin by Renoir that is back in fashion.

 

A forest green enamel maple leaf has had copper studs added with a swirling copper stem. It has a pin back and clasp that work. The enamel color is good with tones from dark to light.

 

A mark above the pin on the back reads MATISSE RENOIR with a C in a circle for copyright. Renoir produced copper jewelry from the mid-1940s until 1964 in Santa Monica, California.

 

 

2 ½” (6.4 cm) tall x 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) wide x 3/8” (.8 cm) thick. Weighs .75 oz (21.4 g)

 

 

There are no breaks or damages to the enamels on the front. There is a small amount of crazing to the clear enamel on the back. There are light scratches to the copper “bumps” on the front and oxidation and light verdigris to some of the copper on the back, as well as here the copper spiral meets the enameled leaf on the front.
