Vintage Chinese Enameled Brass Tea Caddy Republic Period

A colorful enameled brass tea caddy with hands-on detail and professional workmanship.

The heavy brass hexagonal tea caddy has a rectangular raised enameled panel on each side. Each panel is a floral design with leaves, buds, and flowers done in green, blue, red, pink, white, and yellow enamels on a pale blue background. The lid has bats in a circle around a shou character.

The words “MADE IN CHINA” are stamped closely together on the base.

MEASUREMENTS
2 5/8” (6.7 cm) x 2 5/8” (6.7 cm) x 5” (12.7 cm) tall. Weighs 10.1 oz (285 g)

CONDITION
There are no dents, cracks, or breaks. There is wear to the raised areas of the panels. There is also some wear to the enamel on the shou character on the lid. The brass has oxidized from age and is a darker tone than under the lid (which has not oxidized as much).

A great artistic tea caddy to add to a collection or even still use for storing tea.
