Art Deco German Elephant Bottle with Stopper Circa 1930

A fun and whimsical Elephant bottle with stopper that was made in Germany during the Art Deco period.

The molded ceramic bottle has an Art Deco design in the shape of an upright walking elephant with a comic book appearance. The stopper is in the shape of a fez. It fitted into a cork mount on the bottle opening. The light green celadon glaze has a crackle. The fitting on the hat is unglazed. The interior and base are glazed. The foot is unglazed.

There is an indented mark on the base that reads GERMAN 1328. The Y is hard to see on the GERMAN.

3 ½” (8.9 cm) deep x 2” (5.1 cm) wide x 7 ½” (19.0 cm) tall. Weighs 9.9 oz (275 g)

There are no cracks, repairs, or breaks. Part of the cork is missing. There are two shallow chips on the foot that are not visible from the outside. A small lump of clay from manufacture has adhered to the foot. The glaze has significant crazing, especially on the bottom.
