A thinly potted, colorful, and expertly painted 19th Century Chinese porcelain bowl decorated with polychrome enamels in a design of butterflies, roses, birds, and fruit. Gilt has been used to edge and fill in. The painting is fine and professional. There is a raised foot that is unglazed. The base is glazed.

There are no porcelain marks or labels.

Provenance: From the Ellis Family Estate. Most of the collection was acquired by Dr. Robert Hale Ellis of Portland, OR during his regular visits to China and Japan as a physician during the early 20th C.

MEASUREMENTS
9 5/8” (24.4 cm) diameter x 2 ¼” 5.7 cm) deep. Weighs 1 lb 0.7 oz (475 g)

CONDITION
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks, and the bowl rings true. There is a glaze chip on a flower in the central medallion and there is wear to the glaze along the rim. Otherwise, the glazes are bright and fresh. Even the extensive gold gilding is mostly intact.

A large hand-painted and potted bowl to add to a collection or decorate a table with filled with fruit.
