An intricately painted matched Imari teacup and saucer. The designs are of alternating panels of flowers and birds around a central medallion with stylized birds. The design are in underglaze blue and iron red with gilded accents. Both the cup and saucer have barbed rims.

The raised foot rings on both are unglazed, and the bases are glazed. The clay used is very white and refined. There are matching four-character marks on the bases of both.


Saucer –4 5/8” (11.7 cm) diameter x 1” (2.5 cm) tall.

Teacup – 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) diameter x 1 7/8” (4.8 cm) tall.

Weighs 6.3 oz (180 g)


There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. There is slight gilding loss, particularly around the mouth, and a few wear marks in the saucer’s central medallion.

A well matched cup and saucer that have extensive intricate patterns. Small works of art to add to a collection or decorate with.
