Mid Century Japanese Lacquer Inro with Ojime

A black lacquer inro case with a gold floral design or Mon. The square ojime bead has gold line markings.

A wood base has been given coats of black lacquer on the exterior. The interior has been given a red lacquer coating. The cord is threaded through the base and lid. A square bead is used to open and close the inro. The inro body has a mon like design in gold. The back has a fallen cherry blossom design.

There is a signature on the base in a cartouche.

3 ½” (8.9 cm) tall x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) wide x ¾” (1.9 cm) thick. Weighs 1.3 oz (35 g)

There is some wear at the inside of the lid edge and the lip from use. There is also the tiniest lacquer chip on the edge of the lid. There is a small scratch on the finish at the back. There is slight wear to the lacquered body and bottom edge of the Inro; however the lacquer overall is still very shiny. The gold gilding on the Ojime does show some wear, especially on the edges. The cord shows little wear.
