A matched pair of antique copper enameled vases that have so much detailed hand work. I love the scenes in and near an official’s home.

The hand wrought pair of copper quatrefoil vessels have raised feet and have been covered in colorful enamels. The front and back of each vase shows different scenes on a green ground. One painting shows a garden scene and one scene shows a dignitary visiting. The paintings are surrounded by scrolling floral work. The colors are bright and fresh looking. The interiors and bases are coated in white enamel.

“cm 222/44” are marked inside both vases.

3 ¾” (9.5 cm) wide x 3” (7.6 cm) deep x 4 3/8” (11.0 cm) tall. Weighs 7.3 oz (205 g)

There is considerable damage to the enamels throughout, including losses and crazing. The feet, as well as the rim of one vase, have been dented. The copper that is exposed has oxidized a dark brown.

A very old pair of enameled vessels that even with the damage have a presence and artistry. They are wonderfully decadent.
