A fun midcentury cockatoo figurine from the 1950’s that will coordinate with your pink flamingos.
The molded ceramic cockatoo has been spray painted with pink, black, green and yellow glazes. The glazes are thin, smooth, and shiny. There is a hole in the unglazed base from the molding and firing process. The figurine is fairly heavy for its size weight.
There are no marks or labels but it has a Maddux look to the colors and painting technique.
Attribute: The figurine’s heavy weight suggests that it was probably made in the US rather than Japan. In the US, most figurines of this time and style were made in California.
8 ½” (21.6 cm) tall x 5” (12.7 cm) wide x 3 ½” (8.9 cm) deep. Weighs 11.7 oz (330 g)
There are no breaks, cracks, or repairs. There is a chip on the end of the branch. It blends in well with the colors and is difficult to see. There is very little wear or crazing.
A fun pink cockatoo to go with your fifties collections.
