A round heavy bronze box with red paste residue on the interior and an inscription on the lid.

Six characters in cursive grass script tooled into the lid 至樂莫如讀書. This translates, “The happiest thing is to study books." The box has a nice heavy weight and a nice dull gold-bronze color. It may have been an ink box because the lid underside has a black residue that was mostly cleaned off.

Circular lathe marks are visible on both the bottom of the base and the underside of the lid.
