A hand-crafted Chinese silver hair ornament with a nice blue, robin’s egg, and lilac enameling from the 19th century.

A hand-worked, stamped piece of Chinese silver has been molded into a hairpin and then decorated with a beautiful almost peacock blue, robin’s egg blue, and lilac enamel enamels. The stamped design is of flowers and leaves. The end of the pin is a point. The ornament has shined up nicely. It has a nice weight.

There is a Chinese maker mark on the back. I was unable to identify the maker.

MEASUREMENTS
4” (10.2 cm) long x ½” (1.3 cm) wide. Weighs .13 oz (70 g)

CONDITION
There are no breaks or dents. The ornament has a good silver shine. There are areas of enamel loss, particularly on the lower leaves in the case of the deep blue. More areas of the robin’s egg blue are missing (see photo close-up).

A beautiful, shiny hair ornament to be used today. A piece of Chinese jewelry for the Chinese market.
