A colorful, finely painted, antique Japanese porcelain bowl with brocade pattern paintings with much hand work.

A thinly hand thrown deep bell-shaped porcelain bowl with a very soft, thick, off white base glaze that has a shiny appearance. The bowl is decorated in alternating brocade, fabric designs using  iron red, green, and gold enamels. Black has been used to accent the designs. Underglaze cobalt has been used for a ring at the mouth and a border above the foot. The foot is tall with an unglazed edge. The foot is old, you can feel the softness from movement on a surface. The base is glazed.

There is a square Japanese mark in the center of the base in cobalt blue.

MEASUREMENTS
 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) diameter x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) tall. Weighs 6.8 oz (195 g)

CONDITION
There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. There is wear in the central well, as well as kiln flaws such as black spots, and reserves. There is a tiny rough spot on the rim of the bowl where the glaze is missing. There is modest wear to the gold enamel. The bowl still has a bright refined look.

A beautiful antique bowl to add richness and substance to your décor. So much hand work went into its making.
