A hand painted antique bronze in the style of Franz Xaver Bergman studio in Vienna.

The cast bronze is in the shape of an Arab musician playing a mandolin under an oriental carpet awning. The detail is deep, intricate and then cold painted. The base is indented and has a slot screw to hold the musician figure. Inside the tent, under the roof, is an old porcelain light socket with an old cord. The socket fits a bulb with a small base. The cord was cut and would need to be rewired to use as a lamp. Otherwise, it will still be a striking sculpture.

The piece has no hallmark or labels.

MEASUREMENTS

6 ¼” (15.9 cm) long x 4 1/8” (10.5 cm) deep x 9 ¾” (24.8 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lbs 13.2 oz (1740 g)

CONDITION

There is flaking and loss of the cold paint throughout. There is loss to patina and wear on the back. The cord has been cut. One end of the pole holding the awning is slightly bent and the weld connecting this to the diagonal the pole holding the awning is cracked.

**Please note – if you would like me to rewire the lamp for a reasonable charge, please let me know **

An antique that shows much detail. Use as either a lamp or a sculpture. When lite, it would be rich with mystery, substance and age.
