Vintage Chinese Pink Silk Skirt Republic Period c 1930

A soft pink silk skirt decorated with colorful silk embroidered flowers and edged in silk fringe.

 

The pink silk has floral and geometric patterns woven into it. The front and back are decorated with bright floral appliques that are bordered by a green design brocade. The bottom has a gold-colored silk fringe.

 

The top has a deep cotton band with a buttonhole towards the front to either help keep a blouse stay tucked in for to fasten to a belt in some way. The skirt was closed with snaps, although only two snaps on one side remain.

There are no rips, tears, or repairs. Most of the snaps are missing. The cotton band and the body of the skirt are slightly to moderately soiled. The skirt fabric has a short (of about ¾”) cut that is hidden by a pleat. There are a few loose threads and some of the appliques are coming up. The skirt is wrinkled, costume but I didn’t want to press it until it was cleaned.
