A richly hued and exquisitely rendered Guangxu period (1875 to 1908) teacup with characters denoting long life. The cup is very nicely painted.

A western style porcelain teacup with a handle has been decorated in the yellow family of polychrome enamels. There are four panels around the body of the teacup with the characters of ten thousand, long life, unlimited, and boundary. This is to wish the drinker unlimited years of life. The mouth rim has a multicolored key fret border. The body has floral scrolling and a lappet border base.

The cup is neither thinly, nor heavily potted. It has a shallow and narrow unglazed foot. The base is glazed. The base has the hand painted reign mark of the Guangxu emperor. The characters are fine and delicately painted.
