Chinese Export Famille Rose Fish Dish Early 20th C

Porcelain dish shaped like a fish with the tail extended upwards. It has a pretty flower painted in the well. The eye is raised, and the pupil is circled in gilding with has the effect of making the eye glow. Although not painted, the bottom has many details such as scales, an eye, and even another gill fin on the base. The unglazed base is edged with iron from the firing process.

MEASUREMENTS
5 1/8” (13.0 cm) long x 3 1/8” (7.9 cm) wide x 2 ¾” (7.0 cm) tall. Weighs 4.7 oz (135 g)

CONDITION
No chips, cracks, or breaks. There are kiln flaws such as bumps, black spots, and a glaze drip on the base. There is wear to the black on the eye, on the pink body, and on the gilding. The base feels very smooth.
