A lightweight ceramic Satsuma vase that is decorated in deep rich navy blue glaze.

A lightweight ceramic vase with a fine crackle glazes and decorated with a broad decorative band of flowers, leaves, and foliage at the shoulder and roundels with cross decorations in a repeating circle on the body. The overglaze enamels are green, white, violet, gold, and a rich navy blue. There is a ring of gold at the glazed mouth.

The vase shape has a narrow neck sloping to a broad shoulder then tapering in and then out to a small round foot. The foot is flat and unglazed. The base is indented and glazed. There are no artist or kiln marks.

4 ¾” (12.1 cm) tall x 3 ¾” (9.5 cm) diameter. Weighs 8.9 oz (250 g)

There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. There is wear to the gilding on the mouth edge and body, as well as some spots with discoloring above the foot. There are kiln flaws such as pimples, and dark spots. The glazes look bright and shiny.

A detailed, colorful Japanese vase with a touch of royal navy blue. It will be a nice addition to a Japanese collection or to decorate that dark spot with bright gold and blue.
