Small Chinese Ginger Jar Oatmeal with Warriors early 20th C

The base glaze of this hand potted porcelain ginger jar is an oatmeal glaze that has crackle. Several brightly colored warrior scenes are painted over the base glaze. The bottom and mouth edges and the mouth edge have bands of a dark brown glaze that is trying to approximate iron bands. The mouth is unglazed as well as the shallow rounded foot. The base is glazed.

 

 

4 ¼” (10.8 cm) diameter x 5” (12.7 cm) tall. Weighs 15.3 oz (435 g)

 

 

There are no breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. The glazes are still fresh and bright. The base glaze feels soft and looks shiny.
