Glittering, intricate, cake basket that is heavy with silver that was crafted by one of the best silver companies of the late 19th century.

A heavy silver-plated metal basket. Most of the silver is still there and it shines up very well. The main plate of the basket has been engraved with butterflies, birds, bellflowers, and dragonflies. The center of the basket has a medallion with a raised design of birds and flowers. The basket edge has a diamond repeating stamped design. The handle stands on its own and has an ornate semi-circle design with a large ball in the center. Even the handle attachment is ornate with a raised design. The main part of the basket rests on a circular ridged base.

The mark PAIRPOINT MFG CO and a diamond with P in the center, with the word QUADRUPLE PLATE and the number 1213 has been stamped on the underside of the base.

13 ¾” (34.9 cm) tall to top of handle. 6 ¾” (17.1 cm) tall to top of plate. 10” (24.5 cm) diameter. Weighs 2 lb 3 oz (990 g)

There are a couple of dents on the basket rim and a small ding on the plate. The basket sits flat on a table and shines like a million dollars. There is very little wear.

A very rich looking serving piece with all of the Victorian bells and whistles.  A bright point in the dining room.
