A hand-made and hand-painted rectangular box with scrolling lotus motif and what looks like a moth or butterfly on the lid.
 
The slab constructed porcelain box with matching lid has been painted in under glaze cobalt. The glaze feels thick and soft. The raised foot is unglazed and grit adheres to the edge of the foot. The base is glazed. The lid is unglazed on the bottom edge and fits into a lip on the base.
 
MEASUREMENTS
 
3 ½”(8.9 cm) long x 2 ½”(6.4 cm) wide. Weighs 9.0 oz (255 g)
 
CONDITION
 
There are glaze frits on the edges of both the top and bottom. There is a crack on the box base that goes through, but ends at the foot rim. There are a couple of small chips on the edges of the base. There are also the customary kiln flaws, such as grit, black spots and pimples.
 
A nice handmade porcelain box to add to a box collection or a collection of blue and white porcelains.
