Chinese Republic Era Celadon Molded Vase with Lotus Motif

A flattened ovoid shaped vase with molded lotus and grass motif that has been glazed with a pale celadon glaze. The glaze has a nice soft feel of aged oxidization.

 

A porcelain vase that has been molded with matching floral designs on the back and front. The glaze used is a nice thick, soft feeling, and shiny looking celadon glaze. The shape of the vase is a flattened ovoid shape with a ridge edge and indents on the sides. There is a molded floral scroll above the foot. My favorite is the butterfly hovering above the flowers.

 

The base is glazed and has is a fairly deep recessed unglazed foot. The word “CHINA” is molded into the base.

 

8 ¾” (22.2 cm) tall x 5” (12.7 cm) wide x 3” (7.6 cm) thick. Weighs 1 lb 6.6 oz (640g)

 

There are no cracks or breaks. There is one small foot chip which is hard to see when the vase is standing. The glaze is fresh, soft and bright. The vase was used for a lamp and has the drilled hole on the base.

 

A nicely molded vase with a great celadon glaze that is highly decorative.
