A large, globular porcelain Chinese teapot with a lovely petite spout, lugs and a built in strainer. The cobalt underglaze designs are of prunus and other branches. There is a diaper border around both the neck of the body and the edge of the lid. The final is a hoop with a leaf wrapped around the base of it on one side. The lid is original to the piece.
The teapot has a 8 cup + capacity.
The cobalt is a nice, rich blue. The glaze has a slightly blue cast. The inside, rim of the lid, and the concave foot are unglazed. The lower portion of the body is also unglazed and has had a coating applied to prevent the teapot from slipping inside a burner.
