A delicately, finely painted Nippon porcelain dish with raised painted palm trees and plants. The scene looks out at the pyramids of Giza in the delicate shades of a setting sun.

A finely potted porcelain round dish with a round handle that has been painted with of overglaze enamels with raised porcelain decoration to simulate a 3D effect. The painting has a wonderfully soft color palette with shading and distance perspective. The line quality is fine and accurate. There is a border rim design in a brownish color with fine small black dots. There is a shallow foot ring. Both the foot ring and base are glazed in a white glaze.

There is a mark in green with the wording Hand Painted NIPPON circling a wreath on the base. This is a mark for Noritake.

MEASUREMENTS
5 3/4” (14.6 cm) diameter x 1 3/16” (3.0 cm) tall. Weighs 7.3 oz (205 g)

CONDITION
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks and the dish rings true. There is very slight wear to the rim glaze or the enamels. The dish shows little wear.

A wonderful plate to add to a Tutmania collection. This was all the rage after the discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun. An amazing small painting that has captured an evening on the Nile.
