A shiny example of the Aesthetic Movement Victorian design with Japanese-styled rounds and bands.

A heavy base metal has been plated with silver and etched with Asian designs on the lid. The top has a repousse band on the edge with a repeating floral and arabesque design. The piece is heavy and the base rests on a round flat base. The dish has circular rope handles on both sides, and a pair of prongs to hold the butter knife on the front. The lid has a round elevated finial.

The base has the marks QUADRUPLE PLATE HARD WHITE METAL in a circle around the name E. G. WEBSTER & SON N.Y. The center of the circle shows a flexed arm with a hammer. There is the production number 80 etched by the mark. There is a scratched letter W by the mark.
