Vintage Chinese Woven Bamboo Hat

A bamboo hat for work in the sun that was made in China by experienced artisans. The pattern and shape are detailed and laborious. The brim is wide and then turns downward to protect the eyes. The domed crown is reinforced by smaller pieces of wicker. Hats with a high dome like this are commonly seen in Sichuan Province in China.

 

14 ¼” (36.2 cm) diameter x 5 ½” (14.0 cm) tall. Weighs 11.2 oz (310 g)

 

There are no breaks or stains. The bamboo has taken on a yellow tone from age.
