A colorful enameled glass lamp base that was a tank for kerosene but has now been turned into an electric lamp. The birds in the trees with flowers are lovely.

A heavy cast iron base with floral scrollwork and abstract designs has been topped with a Bristol glass tank. The glass is a pale blue and has been painted with gilt, deep brown, green leaves, and flowers in many assorted colors. The glass is topped by a copper-colored metal and above this is the harp and light switch. It is topped with an egg-shaped wood finial. The cord has an old two prong plug.

I could find no marks or labels. There is paper on the base but no maker label remains.

MEASUREMENTS

30” (76.2 cm) tall x 6 ¼” (15.9 cm) wide x 6 ¼” (15.9 cm) deep. Weighs 6 lbs 0 oz (2700 g)

CONDITION

The lamp is tested and works. The painting is in very good conditions, and the colors are bright and fresh. The gilding has very slight wear. There is rust underneath the cast iron base. The copper-colored metal has a few spots of dark discoloration.

A great colorful lamp that will make a great addition to your Victorian or eclectic décor.
