A brass brush pot with an auspicious dragon that has seen some age. The brass has taken on a nice brown patina.

The tooled brass cylindrical brush pot has etched scrolling on the mouth and above the base. Mid-way on the cylinder is an applied medallion with a relief of a dragon encircling two Chinese characters for good fortune and happy life. There is one ridge lines at the shoulder and one just above the base.

The brush pot has a very shallow foot with no labels or hallmarks.

MEASUREMENTS

2 ¼” (5.7 cm) diameter x 6” (15.2 cm) tall. Weighs 7.2 oz (200 g)

CONDITION

The brush pot has multiple dents on the base and foot, but it still rests flat on a surface. It has a shallow dent on the back of the body, as well. The patina is uneven and light verdigris along the edges of the applied medallion.
