A Chinese blue and white bottle with a design of a village scene was made to dispense rose water.

The heavy porcelain bottle has an under glaze blue design of a small village by the water, with a fisherman trying to catch fish. The cobalt is a nice smoky blue. There is a copper metal neck and stopper with chain. I believe the metal is original to the bottle. The glazes feel very soft and thick.

The bottle has a shallow unglazed foot. The base is glazed with no marks or labels.

MEASUREMENTS

7 7/8” (20.0 cm) tall x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) diameter. Weighs 12.8 oz (355 g)

CONDITION

There are two chips on the foot, as well as a small crack or firing flaw along the foot that has discolored. There is a stain or firing mark above the village scene; it is not a hairline. There is a bit of corrosion where the metal meets the neck of the bottle. The bottle has kiln flaws, such as a few black spots.

An unusual bottle with metal mountings that will be a nice addition to your blue and white collection. Hey, you could even use it for rose water.
