Product variants

A hand-potted and painted small porcelain Chinese ewer with cobalt peony scrolling. The decoration is very free-styled, and the glaze is thick and very soft. The lid has a small pointed finial and is also decorated in under-glaze cobalt. The underside of the lid is unglazed.

The inside of the pot is glazed. The shallow foot ring is unglazed but the base is glazed.

I believe the ewer was used for pouring soy sauce.

MEASUREMENTS

5 7/8” (14.9 cm) tall x 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) long x 3” (7.6 cm) wide. Weighs 11.9 oz (335 g)

CONDITION

The pot has a small chip on the underside lip of the spout and a glaze chip on the shoulder of the pot. There are kiln flaws such as cobalt explosions, blue spots, black spots, reserve pinholes, and grit on the foot. There is slight wear to the mouth rim.

A fun Chinese porcelain to add to a grouping of blue and white that will add age and character.
