A thinly potted blue and white porcelain bowl from the late Ming Dynasty that has been painted with a dark cobalt in a design of four peony or lotus medallions on the outside and a ruyi fungus in the interior well. The cobalt is a nice deep Wanli blue. The glaze is thick, very soft and shiny, with a bluish tinge

The bowl has a raised unglazed foot. The clay of the foot is a nice white paste. There are no marks or labels.

MEASUREMENTS

4” (10.2 cm) diameter x 2 1/8” (5.4 cm) tall. Weighs 4.2 oz (120 g)

CONDITION

There are no cracks, chips, breaks or repairs, and the bowl rings like a bell. The mouth has a few tiny glaze frits and the central well shows wear.  There are kiln flaws, such as bumps, reserves, and spots.

A great Ming bowl to add to a collection or add to your display of blue and white. It feels so good in the hand.
