An antique colorful lidded food container and saucer with a floral motif.

The porcelain bowl, lid and saucer are decorated with dainty flowers painted in polychrome enamels. Double happiness characters are stamped on the lid in iron red. The mouth on lid and bowl are unglazed. The slightly raised foot on bowl and saucer are unglazed as well. The lid has a funnel shaped finial. lid and bowl rim have iron red marks to match up. The lid fits the bowl well.

A stamped reign mark on the base in iron red was either not stamped properly or it has worn off. There is an etched mark for ownership in the middle of the reign mark.

MEASUREMENTS

Covered bowl –4” (10.2 cm) diameter x 4 5/8” (11.7 cm) tall.

Saucer – 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) diameter x ¾” (1.9 cm) tall.

Weighs 15.0 oz (420 g)

CONDITION

The mouth on the bowl has two rim chips. The lid has a chip on the rim and on the edge if the finial. The saucer has two hairlines on the rim. The saucer also has several glaze chips to the well. There are kiln flaws on both pieces, such as black spots, bumps, reserve spots, glaze spots. The stamped happiness characters are light with dark smudges in places.
