A matched pair of blue and white covered bowls with a pair of precisely painted dragons flying through the clouds in search of the flaming pearl.

The bowls have a fine oatmeal crackle glaze and are painted in a nice medium cobalt. The paintings are very detailed, fine and accurate. The lids have raised inverted cone finials for grasping and fit the bowls precisely. The finial top, lid edges, and the bowl mouths are clad in a gold colored bronze collar.

The lid flange and bowl mouth flanges are unglazed. The bowls have a shallow unglazed foot with glazed bases. The interiors are glazed and show the fine crackle very well. The bases are marked in a six character hand painted cobalt blue Shunzhi (father of Kangxi) reign mark.

MEASUREMENTS

3 1/8” (7.9 cm) diameter x 3 ½” (8.9 cm) tall. Weighs 12.5 oz (355 g)

CONDITION

There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. The metal shows oxidization and has a nice mellow gold color. The glaze is bright and shiny.

A great pair of hand painted matched bowls to add to a collection or use to decorate with other blue and white pieces.
