A short stoneware pot with a very rustic quality. The outside and a portion of the inside of the pot has been coated with an off-white matte wash. It has a very rough texture. The pot has six lugs used to attach straps for handles.

It was a very practical piece produced in Southeast Asia. It's hard to say with certainty exactly where it's from, but based on the style of the lugs, we believe it's from Burma. 18th C.

The foot is flat. The base is somewhat indented.

From a chip on the foot you can see the red clay under the wash that wasn’t oxidized in the kiln.

MEASUREMENTS

6" (15.2 cm) tall x 6 3/4" (17.2 cm) diameter. Weighs 2 lbs 1.8 oz (960 g)

CONDITION

There are no cracks or breaks. There are a couple of small chips around the foot. One spot around the neck has a grey area where the wash didn’t cover. About ½ the inside wasn’t glazed either. A part of the belly was burned in the kiln.
