A well-cast bronze paperweight in the shape of an ancient Egyptian scarab with hieroglyphics on the base. It is both useful and decorative.
The heavy bronze casting of an Egyptian scarab was produced in the time of Tut Mania, during the 1920s. The casting is deep and intricate. The hieroglyphics underneath fill the entire base. The scarab has a brownish patina from age. It rests flat on a surface.
3 1/8” (7.9 cm) long x 2 1/8” (5.4 cm) wide x 1 ¾” (4.4 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 0.8 oz (480 g)
There is a small chip on the edge of the foot. Otherwise, there are no breaks, dents, cracks, or repairs. The bronze has developed a natural patina.
A great paperweight that looks like a lost relic from ancient Egyptian civilizations. The scarab was a symbol of rebirth and was very auspicious.
