A colorful German porcelain inkwell in the shape of a Chinese mandarin smoking a pipe from the early 20th Century.
A molded two-piece porcelain in the shape of a Chinese mandarin with a pigtail, large moustache, and pipe that fits together. There is a hole for an ink insert. This insert is now missing. There is also a hole in the mandarin's hat to put your pen. The piece is hand painted and has good line quality and exactness. There is no foot. The base is flat.
Germany is stamped in red on the unglazed base, and the number 6057 is impressed into the lower back edge of the body.

3 5/8 in (9.2 cm) wide x 3 3/8 in (8.4 cm) deep x 4 ¾ in (12.1 cm) tall. Weighs 9.0 oz (255 g)
CONDITION
There are no cracks, repairs or breaks. There is on glaze loss along the hole in the top for the pen. There are also a couple of very small pinpoint glaze losses on the top of the hat in back and the tip of his nose.
