A fun and goofy child’s plate with little brownies doing gymnastics and fencing.
A lightweight molded ceramic plate with an arabesque blue rim has been decorated with transfers of little brownie figures popularized by Palmer Cox doing exercises from the rings to fencing. The plate has a glazed rounded foot.
There is a mark on the base center. It reads GOLD MEDAL ST LOUIS OWEN MINERVA with a stylized Greek helmet and scrolls.
MEASUREMENTS
8 5/8” (22.0 cm) diameter x 7/8” (2.2 cm) tall. Weighs 13.0 oz (370 g)
CONDITION
There is a small chip under the rim. The base glaze has crazing. There are some skips and/or wear on the transfers and glaze.
