A colorful hand painted charger with a painting of a geisha crossing a bridge. It is cherry blossom time and she is viewing the cherry blossoms. I love the delicacy of the painting of her face and robe. The polychrome paintings are colorful and detailed. The hills in the background are alive with pink balls representing cherry trees.

The porcelain charger has a shallow rounded unglazed foot. The mouth rim has an iron red band with gold dots. The plate has three holes in the foot rim for hanging the plate on a wall. There is an iron red square in the center of the base with two hand painted gilt Japanese characters.

MEASUREMENTS

12” (30.5 cm) diameter x 2” (5.1 cm) tall. Weighs 2 lbs 9.2 oz (1170 g)

There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There is slight wear to the gilding in spots, as well as light scratches from wear in the well. There are small painting and kiln flaws, such as black spots.

An elegant hand painted charger with much detail. I love the very delicate painting of the face.
