A hand painted Japanese porcelain cat that glitters with gold.

A molded porcelain in the shape of a cat has been hand painted in gilt and over glaze enamels. The cat shows the brush strokes to mimic hair. The cat is in a sleep pose. The base is unglazed and shows the white of the refined clay. The figure has no maker’s marks or labels.

MEASUREMENTS

7 3/8” (18.6 cm) long x 4 ½” (11.4 cm) wide x 3” (7.6 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 8.6 oz (700 g)

CONDITION

The figure has no chips, breaks, or repairs. There is a glaze crack near the bell, as well as kiln flaws, such as black spots. The gilt is mostly intact with some wear showing on the cat’s upper leg.

A cat with good details and hand painting. I love the cat's face with whiskers and molded bumps.
