An ornate and shiny Victorian silverplate card receiver with a repousse design of grape leaves.

The repousse design of grape leaves is very lavish. It has a central design in the well to indicate where to put a calling card. This “card” in the center is blank and so you even have your own name engraved.

The bowl rests on a raised platform. The hallmarks were obliterated when it was soldered.

MEASUREMENTS
6 5/8 in (16.8 cm) diameter x 2 5/8 in (6.67 cm) tall. Weighs 13.6 oz (380 g)

CONDITION
There are silver losses, but it still has some shine. The pedestal was broken off and resoldered. The dish has a very slight wobble on a table. There is a dent on the foot.

A piece of Victoriana that is very interesting. It was a piece for people to receive calling cards. It had its own set of rules and conventions.
