A fun and artistic colorful child's plate from the late 19th Century was a learning device for the alphabet.
The small ceramic plate has a fired-on transfer in the design of Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf. There are the alphabet letters around the plate cavetto. The words RED RIDING HOOD AND HER SUPPOSED GRANDMOTHER are printed below the central picture. This plate is part of Brownhill's nursery rhyme series of child's plates.
There is a very shallow foot on the plate underside. The transfer has colors of red, yellow and blue as well as varying shades of sepia and brown.
The backstamp reads ENGLAND B.P.Co RdN149644. This is the backstamp for Brownhills.

7 3/8 in. (18.6 cm) diameter x 7/8 in (2.2 cm) deep. Weighs 10.2 oz (290 g)
CONDITION
There is a large rim chip. There is slight wear on the well, as well as to foot rim. The design and colors are still very visible.
